Find opponents for friendlies with the match finder
No more “opponent wanted” posts in ten Facebook groups: in the bolzn match finder you search by date range, place and radius, filter by age group and playing strength and send a request straight to the right team.
Inside the Match finder
Offer a date
You have a free pitch and need an opponent? Create a match offer with date, time, duration and place and publish it in the match finder. An offer can also have several places – for a small tournament, for example. Other teams nearby find your offer and can apply.
Search
Looking for a friendly yourself? Enter a postcode or use your location and choose the radius, for example 100 km. Filters narrow down the results: category (boys, girls, men, women), a specific day or a date range, and for youth teams the age groups and playing strength. You can hide offers you have already requested and star the ones you like. That way you can still find an opponent for next weekend at short notice.
Request
If an offer fits, you send a request. You state your team's playing strength and can add a short message. Your open requests are collected in their own tab.
Confirm
The host sees every request with team, age group, playing strength, message and contact person. With “Close & create match” they accept – the match is created directly in bolzn. If you play against another bolzn team, the match automatically gets a coaches' chat, just for the coaches of both teams.
Advantages over groups and forums
Targeted, not random
In groups and forums, posts slide down after a few hours and you read through posts that don't fit. In the match finder you only see offers in your radius, in the date range you want and in your age group.
Matching strength
A friendly is only worthwhile if both teams are on a level. For youth teams you filter by age group and playing strength, and every request shows the requesting team's own rating.
From offer to match
No copying phone numbers, no dates lost in a chat: after you accept, the match is created directly in bolzn – with availability, line-up and live ticker like every other match of your team.
Everything in one place
Offers, requests and saved offers each have their own tab. You always see where you have already sent a request and which teams have responded to your offer.
Creating matches on video
Once accepted in the match finder, the match sits in bolzn like any other match of your team. This tutorial shows in about three minutes how to create and manage single matches and tournaments.
You can find more guides in the Tutorials on the home page and on our YouTube channel.
Frequently asked questions
Does the other team need to use bolzn too?
Currently, yes. Offers and requests run through the match finder in bolzn, so the opposing team also needs a bolzn account. In return the match is created directly in bolzn after you accept, without anyone typing in dates.
Which teams is the match finder for?
For youth and adult teams: the filters distinguish boys, girls, men and women. For youth teams, age group and playing strength are added so a friendly suits both sides.
How far does the match finder search?
You set the starting point with a postcode or your location and choose the radius. That way you find a friendly in the neighbourhood or plan a longer trip, for example for a tournament in the holidays.
Can I offer a tournament too?
Yes. An offer can have several places. In the details you see participants, requests and invitations and decide yourself which teams take part.
Does the match finder cost extra?
No. The match finder is part of the bolzn team plan, together with training planning, tactics board, team kitty, inventory, live ticker and polls. You can try it free for the first 3 months; for all prices see Pricing.
